Cat: But stop for a moment and look at who has a lot of savings -- it is the Japanese (something on the order of $10 trillion in liquid funds). They are the ones who are helping to get the ball rolling -- and gold is so small with such a small float of gold stocks and metal -- it won't take much. Real estate is huge and not anywhere near as easy to push up and it is not international. Gold can turn on a dime. Ask an old lady in Tokyo if she wants to own a house in LA -- not likely. But she might want a brick of gold in her cupboard. We don't save much -- many dispute that, but we don't do it. Cheap credit makes LA rock and roll -- but not Tokyo. They have been there and done that and they are not going to do it again. They don't trust the banks and they don't trust the government and they don't trust the companies -- they want their savings to be in something that they can count on -- gold.
