Actually ACF, sometimes it's fairly clear that Daddy isn't the sperm donor. For example, if two melanin-deficient parents have an ASTM 7 baby. It will occur to people, without any DNA testing, that a stray bull has been in the paddock. They will be right.

Even where differences aren't so spectacular, some scrutiny can suggest some genetic drift from where it should be and reasonably accurate odds could be placed on the outcome.
