i read on some thread that the japanese are buying at the top. maybe not This time. here is paul kasriel's version of japanese gold buying (some from the middle east too). this is old hat for lots of people, but this is a compact article that even mentions reasons for greenspan to want to have a little more inflation in the usa soon. northerntrust.com
