That is the trouble with tech stocks -- they cannot possibly sustain their positional status. Gold can. There was never any possibility that tech stocks could avoid their own undoing -- not so with gold. Sure, a higher price will bring on more supply, but nothing like the floodgates of tech IPOs and secondaries. Tech stocks also had another nagging problem -- sooner or later people would try to relate their prices to their earning power, and oh my gosh, the earning power was so completely disconnected from the prices that moves down of 99% could not be avoided. Nobody expects gold to make a cent -- it is 100% purely positional. It is perfect.
