The Zionists had no need of provocateurs in Iraq -- conditions were already terrible for the Jews there.

Iraq had a pro-Nazi government, len. There was a huge pogrom against the Jews in 1941, which killed hundreds and destroyed over a thousand Jewish businesses. All through the forties, the Jews were persecuted by the government but not permitted to emigrate. Finally in 1950, the government let them go. Those who hadn't bribed their way out already ran for their lives. Almost all left at once, even though they had to abandon all their property.

The proportion of Jews remaining in Iraq was far smaller than the proportion of Arabs remaining in Israel. You scoff at the idea that the Arabs left voluntarily, yet have no trouble believing it of the Jews. Double standards, len?
