Hynix CEO says Micron takeover 'virtually agreed' - Yonhap

SEOUL, Feb 13, 2002 (AFXEurope via COMTEX) Micron Technology Inc has "virtually agreed" to take over the memory chip unit of Hynix Semiconductor Inc for around 4 bln usd, Yonhap news agency said, quoting Hynix chief executive officer Park ChongSup as saying.

Park said both sides had "virtually agreed" on the main terms and conditions.

"Even if it has yet to be agreed 100 percent and signed formally, the negotiation with Micron has been almost wrapped up," Park was quoted saying as he emerged from Incheon airport, west of Seoul.

Park had returned to Seoul from the latest round of talks with Micron in the US.

Asked about the price of the deal, he said, "Hard to disclose it in the concrete, the price stands at around four billion dollars."
