wbmw, let's assume the worst for Intel, that Clawhammer is out on schedule in Q4. It still needs to get to volume shipping status, including with all the infrastructure that AMD is not so famous for, to be a threat for volume shipments of top performing PCs. A 3.0 GHz P4, OTOH, is "just another clock frequency" along the way to 5 - 10 GHz, which have been spoken about for P4, and it will have all the infrastructure parts in volume in place already from 2 - 3 GHz P4 developments. Still, it ain't easy, like I tell Jim. Just speculating, but by the time AMD gets the whole act together for Hammer, Intel has a good chance of being at 90 nm, no? One thing I like is that this time, unlike early Athlon days, Intel is taking AMD seriously, and Intel is executing well. Gonna be a dogfight?
