Do you ever ask why the brokerage houses (banks)pump "foreign content" for RRSP's and not for regular trading accounts ?

Could it be because RRSP don't allow foreign currency accounts, so every trade in an RRSP means a nice foreign exchange fee in addition to higher commissions ?

Have you ever heard them suggest that the government should allow foreign currency accounts within an RRSP ?
