This Standards Requirements Document (SRD) outlines the key <Operator requirements for the evolution of the CDMA2000 1X (IMT-2000 MC 1X) standard. This SRD refers to this evolution as 1xEV. These requirements are defined to drive improvements to the fundamental packet data capabilities and efficiencies of CDMA2000 1X systems to better meet the rapidly evolving needs of subscribers. This document is intended to enable Wireless Operators an evolution beyond CDMA2000 1X, providing for increased spectral efficiency and capability to cost effectively satisfy customer demand for wireless Internet applications.>

CDMA2000 1xRTT is the first 3G standard. I don't know if there is a line which specifically states that all revisions beyond 1x can to be categorized as 1xEV. Call it my poetic license.

The upgrades from 1xRTT to Rev. 1 or Phase 1 for very high speed data are additional steps away from 1xRTT to incrementally higher data speeds. 1xEV DO breaks away on a sperate carrier at 2.4 MBPS. 1xEV DV takes the original data voice carrier to 4.8 MBS. I expect that we will see 1xEV DO upgrades well beyond that measure.

The acronyms don't matter. CDMA2000 is an evolutionary standard. If Slacker thinks he is smarter than all the people at Qualcomm, Sprint, Verizon, and Bell Canada rolling out the business models for 3G, he is free to call them a bunch of dumb asses. I would expect if he was smarter, he would not be spending his whole day trash talking.
