HELLO FOLKS...

Well, as any of you left who are reading this know, I have been away for a long time (No sh_t!). I wanted to get some dialogue going again about hedge funds.

For starters, while I still make markets I have found with all of the changes that have come to pass (unfortunately) on the NASDAQ, and with long stretches of fairly pathetic trading volume such as the past week or two (and long stretches like this one since June or July of 2001), the only way to make big returns, IMHO, is to stretch your timeframes beyond the 3 minute charts and look at the 60, 120 and daily charts. That seems to be where my biggest profits are coming from. Looking at this, it is apparent that I am more of a money manager when I am dealing with daily charts and overnight positions versus only intra-day trades.

That all being said I think I am going to start my own hedge fund and wanted to hear the thoughts of those of you 'in the know' about what you think of this. My methodologies are fairly simple, but they are profitable, and are varied and diverse. I have a few potential investors and will of course need to raise more money. Essentially, hedge fund management will be an evolution from what I currently do now.

Anyone out there who has an opinion or experience with this feel free to voice your thoughts or warnings... about anything....

Since I will be back and paying attention to this thread again (provided anyone even actually reads it at this point), we can discuss solid strategies of hedging using options and other products & instruments -- and also discuss arbitrages and distressed deals.

Hope to hear something from somebody... and I hope everyone is well and surviving.

All the best,

-- Gene

P.S. -- My apologies for the long absence...
