Alta BioPharma Buys 1.2M Rigel Pharmaceuticals Shares DOW JONES NEWSWIRES WASHINGTON -- Alta BioPharma Partners II LP purchased 1.2 million Rigel Pharmaceuticals Inc. (RIGL) common shares in January, according to a Form 4 released Wednesday by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Jean Deleage, a director of Rigel Pharmaceuticals, is associated with Alta BioPharma. Alta BioPharma bought the shares on Jan. 16 for $4.50 apiece. At the end of the month, Alta BioPharma owned 5.8 million Rigel Pharmaceuticals common shares. Shares of Rigel Pharmaceuticals, of San Francisco, closed Wednesday up 3 cents to $4.44.
