I'm not as pessimistic as you are, apparently.
But neither do I take on faith, as you do, the universal honesty of our public servants, who, unfortunately, aren't angels. Murphy's law states whatever can go wrong, will, and we have the awesome capabilities in our government to do some wrong things. Vigilance is in order.
My faith is that full disclosure is the cleansing tonic to cure most of these ills that threaten our Republic. I have a great deal of faith in that.
I have more faith in you, for example, and certainly the body politic, than to the anonymous ambitious autocratic tendency within the unreal world of the Beltway, where I have spent some time and know whereof I speak.
These are difficult to confront, time-consuming issues to research, and get in the way of workaday life. Important, nonetheless. |
