Because it is only a hypothesis, which I can't prove. The hypothesis is that P4, with it's long pipeline, high branch misprediction penalty will fare worse on .Net/CLR and Java/VM core than Piii and Athlon. Itanium will be even worse, since there is a limit to how much optimization can be done by the JIT compiler on a small code snippets, lack of out of order execution, and limited parallelism will make Itanium perform even worse.
