I'm not sure where you get that 75/25% break down but with the money that Enron gave out 25% is still hand over fist.

Tim, those are the numbers quoted by newspapers.

It's not surprising that they gave more to Republicans since they are a Texas company and more major national politicians from TX are Republicans.

So that makes it okay?

Ted, if taking money from Enron was wrong then taking a few hundred thousand is just as bad as taking a couple of million. Also I don't see what's so special about Enron, if receiving campaign contributions from Enron was wrong then why is it ok to receive them from any other company or from non corporate sources? Because Enron has since gone bankrupt? I don't see the relevance.

According to our campaign laws, there is nothing wrong with taking corporate donations. My point was that the Reps. have had close ties with ENE execs who have turned out to be corrupted.....for months now, others on this thread have made Dems. guilty by their associations. Well, its clear that the Bush administration did a lot of associating with ENE. You are free to reach your own conclusions.

Secondly, the news has reported that ENE worked hard to provide the Rep. campaigns including Bush's with more than the normal amount permitted by campaign laws. Further proof of how close that association was. Again, make whatever conclusions you wish.
