It's not a solid assumption. Here are just a few technologies likely to compete for our dashboards:

The notion that CDs, DVDs, hard drives, or anything else will make satellite radio fail is a non-starter. I own thousands of CDs and haven't taken one to my car since I got XM.

A study by an analyst with Landenburg Thalmann & Co. projects 9.8 million subscribers for XM alone by 2010. A Merrill Lynch study predicts Sirius will have hooked more than 19 million subscribers by then.

This is, glaringly, the most stupid statement I've seen on this issue. How is it that ML has determined that in 10 years twice as many subscribers will have flocked to SIRI than to XM? Is it on the basis that SIRI has the more expensive product, or that they will have zero commercials instead of a few? This statement is just absurd, particularly considering that SIRI's management has shown itself to be less than stellar.
