But this goes back to my question about bringing people to trial. If all the fellow has is a lot of allegations, none of which could withstand legal scrutiny, then he is not, in fact, getting very far. That is, if you are right about the corruption and need to bring people to account. Additionally, if there are all these terrible people out there in the netherworld of intelligence, why is he not dead, or in jail, or in an asylum? I mean, they could have done it, right?
It is like all of the insinuations about George HW Bush having been the Director of the CIA, as if he had a host of minions working on his behalf: if that were so, how did he lose to a punk like Bill Clinton? How did Ross Perot stay in the race and, in effect, torpedo him? If the black ops boys were working to put George W. in, how come he had such a squeaker?
The same thing with all these Y2K doomsayers: after all of these dire predictions, and survivalist fantasies, and predictions that Clinton would use panic in the streets to declare martial law and make himself a dictator, it turned out that the transition had barely a hitch.
Just ask the right questions, or observe what actually goes on, and none of this conspiracy stuff makes a lot of sense. |
