The Canadians were awarded the silver medal, but they should have won the gold.

And I guess what I was trying to say was, that it is a shame that the Olympics would be tainted like this. They are supposed to be meaningful and competitive.

For instance, who can forget Jesse Owens?

It is heartbreaking, really. People dedicate a good part of their lives to trying to win a gold medal. And when they achieve perfection, and are denied their goal because of politics or greed or anything, it is a crime against humanity.

And, it makes claims like Prince Abdel's about democracy being corrupt, all the more legitimate to those who are living in a third world.
