Jon,thanks that clears up my misperception. So it seems that the bandwidth issue is not that critical an issue. All 200 users would have to be receiving simultaneously to jam up the downstream. @Home's also has cached servers for certain websites. The only problem is the upstream, and interference. This will be handled by better architecture of the node,QPSK and the like. I see the investment by Gates as quite a testimonial for the potential of HFC. @Home is going to be a great success, and who knows what new technology will help to boost performance of HFC. Potentially optical cross connects, and DWDM for metropolitan areas will make a HFC network work like a current switched network, but all optical speeds. I stand corrected and can't wait until TWX gives me Road Runner access here,no need for connecting, always on line. But I would rather have @Home,they seem to have a better infrastucture and engineering.
