So...who really cares if we don't win a few extra medals by not funding as much as other countries. We really don't compare badly considering the small population, low density, and the traditional sports we tend to favour. 20 Canadian hockey players or a curling team play the whole tournament for one medal while a handful of Norwegian skiers have a chance for a bunch, let alone a swim or gymnastics teams. Would it really be worth throwing piles of $ to davelop elite athletes that might win a few extra medals and move some up from 24th to 19th?
