McData files patent suit against Brocade NEW YORK, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Data storage firm McData Corp (NasdaqNM:MCDT - news) said on Thursday it has filed a patent infringement complaint against competitor Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:BRCD - news).
The McData patent at issue, No. 6,233,236, relates to a filtering and measuring traffic within a computer network switch. San Jose, California-based Brocade has been rolling out a new high-speed switch product, a key component of the data storage networks where Broomfield, Colorado-based McData dominates.
``We believe that Brocade has been selling and offering for sale products that infringe on our patent,'' said McData general counsel Thomas McGimpsey. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. ****************************************************
