If we get a bounce, I'm going to mull doubling up on my KLAC short. Another round of layoffs would be very telling, since Morgan is on record that he does want to fire and then rehire 6-9 months later, creating unwanted turnover turbulence. If they send another 500-1000 to the unemployment line, after the 1,700 announced in December, it would confirm that no upturn is evident maybe even into 2003, IMHO.

Of course, the market could see this as a reason to rally. <g>
