This one below is a classic....(How did you find that link???)... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>posted by Juan Gato at 10:06 AM If I'm not mistaken, this Helen Thomas is the same old broad who sits at the front of White House press conferences and rudely yells at and, rather than asking real questions, actually lectures presidents in them. Well, non-Clinton presidents. Well, seems she writes a column now, and a more simplistic, uninformed column I have not seen in a while. Today's is about how we shouldn't really blame Arafat for the violence in Israel. In fact, to Helen Thomas, Ariel Sharon is mostly to blame as is, of course, President Bush. Here are some choice quotes: Yet the constant refrain at the White House has been that Arafat has to do more to stop terrorism before he qualifies for an audience with Bush. He is the elected leader of the Palestinian people, but apparently that is not relevant to the president. Helen, dear, Arafat was duly elected for a term. However, when that term expired he refused to hold new elections as was required. When leaders refuse to hold elections we call them dictators, not elected leaders. Reflecting the views of other European leaders, French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine has called it a mistake for the White House to isolate Arafat and support Sharon's "purely repressive policies." Ah yes, the all important European, no, not just European, French! opinion here. Glenn Reynolds has been cataloging much of the anti-Semitism in France. The French have a long, and continuing problem with anti-Jewish sentiment and violence. Remember, it was a French diplomat who recently said something along the lines of, "Israel is a shitty little country. Why should the world risk World War III over those people?" Ah, the French. Titans of the world!
I really suggest reading her whole column. It's full of all the lefy misconceptions on the whole Israeli/Palestinian issue which is a cluster on its own rights without that other nonsense.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< |
