Even if Intel announces plans to produce "Yamhill" this would not mean they are giving up on IA64. Just as Hammer is not intended to compete against IA64, so too "Yamhill" will not be intended to replace IA64. IA64 will live on in high end 8-way plus configurations while Intel will only support "Yamhill" in up to 4-way configurations.
