"Lobbyists" are the American public. Sure, they represent someone's point of view, and yes, they're generally (although not always) paid to do it. But whether representing the views of the AFL-CIO, Cheboygan Farmer's Grange, Sierra Club, Motion Picture Association of America, Joe Blow, or GE, they're representing constituents who constitute the American Public.

Do you believe that you should be able to petition your representatives in government without havng every word you utter be a matter of written public record? Don't you think that might affect what you say and how you say it? Wouldn't that maybe put a chill on your right to petition government? It would, for many.
