The exercise you are doing is worthy, but only when you consider gold as a commodity.

Gold is money, not only a commodity. As such it has a monetary premium. The premium varies per country of course and is directly linked to the health of the local currency.

This monetary premium varies year after year depending on the actions of our governments.

You should ask yourself the question: "How healthy is the USD as the global reseve currency and what lies ahead?"
