Limtex--I think you need to be more specific. Are you saying that NO telecom service provider can make money? Are you saying that no WIRELESS service provider can make money? When you look at the provision of voice and data communications (not just voice), time spent actually sending and receiving data becomes very critical in determining profitability. If you are looking at wired vs. wireless, it becomes clear that the relatively low data rates for conventional wired service increase the total time that users spend online, thereby increasing the need for more capacity.

Now tell me how a wired infrastructure, or at least the portion of it going from fiber optic lines to individual users, can be the least cost technology, or at least cheaper than wireless, given the cost of maintaining lines, utility poles, etc. I think the economics for wireless are unbeatable. As to Sprint PCS, it would probably be a much better company if it were TOTALLY separated from its parent, which is still laboring under the philosophical and cultural constraints of soon to be outmoded wired systems. Same goes for Verizon.
