Dan, I am a big AMD fan but I think Intel can produce and sell more Yamhill cpus in 1 quarter than AMD can produce and sell hammer cpus in 1 year. Therefore, I think within 1 quarter of yamhill's release the tide will stem to intel's side. This may happen even sooner since developers can see this and plan for this ahead of time hence slowing down x86-64 development and switching to yamhill development instead. The only hope AMD has against this scenario is that Intel may be more than 12 months away from such a cpu and that such a cpu may require significant infrastructure changes for intel. If Intel can produce a P4 that works in the current infrastructure and has 64-bitness then Intel will actually be ahead of AMD since AMD HAS to introduce new infrastructure for Hammer.
