Well, my view is that the hoi polloi are so intentionally ill-informed that their opinions cannot be relied upon for a clear and sensible foreign policy. I leave domestic policy out of this particular discussion.
Well, surprise, I disagree again, Ray. My point was not about foreign policy in general but going to war, in specific. Since it's my body, or the bodies of my kids and their kids, or my neighbor's kids, etc. that will be put on the line, I think I, as a card carrying member of the hoi polloi, should have a wee bit of a say. If all I get is the power of the public opinion polls, I will take that. If I can also get the power of assembly for redress, I'll also take that.
