Verizon reps are getting it together. I went into a AAA store today and found a Verizon salesperson outside. He was very knowledgeable about their services and phones, including the probable startup time for the 1X system in the LA area, GPS phones (one model only now, and not 1X), and 1X phone (not color and only one model available so far with several others due shortly after the LA launch. Contrast that with Costco today, talking with the PCS salesperson, who knew the term "3g" but had never heard of 1X, and had to refer to her info sheet to see about the status of their GPS launch. She did know the 3G phones, and that there was a color one available, but had to refer to her sheets to find the name. She said that her understanding was that the network was running now, but only for voice, and that the data portion was what was due to come online in June. I am sitting here waiting to buy 5 phones (4 replacement and 1 new) as soon as one of them has a GPS and 1X color phone available. How many people like me are there out there hurting current sales figures but ready to make large purchases when they go to the next step. Shake a leg, guys!
