"I do seem to recall that this topic was brought up in the committee meeting. From my recollection, she expressed the view that she felt that if only she could get through to Ken Lay, that he would take care of the concerns about an "accounting scandal". What truly baffles me is that once Lay betrayed Watkins by suppressing the aspects of an inquiry that would be useful in detecting fraud, Watkins still feels the Lay is A-ok. Such loyalty doesn't make sense to me. I guess that's why I'm not much of a candidate for corporate employment, eh? "--- RAY

At one point in her testimony, a Congressional member asked
her if she feared for her safety. My interpretation:
she was afraid.

Was Pitt at the SEC at the time she wrote the letter?

Cheers,

I am not sure why she defends Lay either.
