Receiving Newsgroups by e-mail.

I was just asked by a member on a mailing list -->> how does one "subscribe" to this newsgroup. I use hotmail (internet access) as an email server. I've figured out how to read the stuff off google, but is there a way to get it in my InBox? <<

I sent him the following response, but would be interested to find out if anyone on this thread knows how to accomplish this (receiving newsgroup posting in your Internet e-mail server inbox).

First a word of warning about newsgroups. If you decide to post something on a newsgroup, you probably should NOT use or include your real e-mail address. Spammers often collect e-mail addresses from newsgroups for mass mailings.

re: "is there a way to get it in my InBox?"

I have never done this, but I believe that you can use mailgate.org to have newsgroup posting sent to your Internet InBox. As an alternative, if you send the word "help" in the body of a message to newsserv@litech.net they might be able to help you receive newsgroup postings in your inbox, but again, I have not tried this myself.

I would suggest that you spent a little time learning about newsgroups before you start using them. You might find this link to "Accessing the Internet by E-mail FAQ" helpful.

faqs.org

About half way down the site, there is a section entitled "USENET BY EMAIL" (use "Edit / Find (On this page)..." and search for "usenet by email" to quickly locate this section). There are subsections that talk about reading and posting to newsgroups that you might find helpful.

Does anyone on this thread know of another way of receiving newsgroup postings in you Inbox?
