Thanks for both responses. I took two countertrend trades mid day Friday for pennies, nothing to brag about. I should have shorted in the morning, but because I can short so infrequently I preference late afternoon shorts, which I think tend to be more reliable. Corresponding with you has made me think about what I am doing, because you take profitable trades that I pass up. I am in the process of changing my system from rigid entry rules to being score-based, derived from several different, but related, entry rules. I very much appreciate corresponding with you, because you are willing to talk about the thinking behind an individual trade, good or bad. I find that very thought provoking. I suppose if either one of us gets really good we'll clam up! My observation is that most traders who have something that really works don't want to discuss it, especially if it was hard to arrive at.
It seemed to me before your response that you naturally preferred to countertrade. I consider that to be a fault in myself, evidence of a recalcitrant and negative personality. Now I understand that you really just like to trade in a choppy market. I'll stick to trends, thanks. Have a great weekend, and please continue to share your insights and progress. |
