So, if there is a whole bunch out there, then there is no killer app that you prefer for "pseudo-remote editing" whisseewhig/code-alone of la website? It's pick your choose and take your chances?

I used to like hotdog. (Windows, I know). It had drag and drop containers for html functions, and you worked in code mostly. Lview on the side for image manip. You did not work Whissiewig. You viewed with netscrape every once in a while. WYSiWYG editors, like Hotmetal and MS Frontpage and the like were slow and clunky, produced poor code that did not jive with some browsers. Netscape composer is too confining. Cannot drop to code and hand bomb difficult areas. You have to have freedom to build design. Hot dog is a tad too clunky today. We need a best of both worlds, pure edit the page in Wysiwyg and code too with drag and drop, script and table management.

Perl/Java-Script additions, table design and tracking and image/text handling is poor in most tools, partly the fault of HTML itself. XML translators are not there yet either. Too abstruse.

Where's the beef?
