RE: Question about Gold futures:

I'm in the process of constructing a continuous contract for Gold. It appears that the most liquid Gold futures contract is GC trading on COMEX. The front month contracts go in the order:

2002g February
2002j April (current front month contract)
2002m June
2002q August
2002z December

That is, the front month contract rolls over to the next even-number month, except October is never the most liquid contract (for some reason). Does anyone know why?
