No. I think that bombing as an alternative to an even more bloody climax is morally justifiable. Employing a weapon of mass destruction when the situation is not so extreme is much more dubious, and, in most cases, morally horrific.

As for the Truman- McArthur dispute, I think it is fair enough to say that the Chinese should not be guaranteed sanctuary once they crossed the border, but that it would have been a mistake to have employed atomic weapons.

As for Karen, I don't think she was saying that people were not being overly hostile, from time to time. I think she was saying it was a reaction to events, and not a matter of forwarding an ulterior agenda.......
