IMHO, the new finds in the CIS aren't going to make much difference in the eventual date of the world production peak. We haven't seen a big field come in in the last two decades, at least. So, 2006-2008 still looks like the peak to me. Though I have to admit I've been too pessimistic in the past on the potential for discovery. But that was in 1973. <gg>

The article that caught my eye was "The World's Giant Oil Fields". We aren't finding giants any longer, except if you use the sleight-of-hand that Simmons does to call smaller discoveries giants.
