Leverage is a double-edged sword. Once saw a survey by IBD and it showed the larger an individual trader's account grew the less likely they were to use leverage and trading vehicles such as options and futures. In the end it all boils down to each trader's individual risk tolerances and trading goals. At least for me, in the twilight of my trading career I would never use leverage. On the other hand, were I starting all over again you better believe I would use leverage - except for options.
