Brilliant elephants outsmart pineapple farmers

Fruit growers in Thailand have decided to turn over their plantations to dairy farming because wild elephants keep outsmarting them.
The farmers admitted defeat after efforts to protect their crops with guns, firecrackers and barbed wire failed.
Villagers in the district of Prachuap Khiri Khan say the elephants are no longer being scared off because they never fall for the same trick twice.
The fruit growers are asking the government to help them switch to a new industry so they can live in peace alongside the animals, according to the Bangkok Post.
Village administrator Tinat Poolpipat says the elephants had plenty to eat in the jungle, but have developed a taste for sweet fruit.

Personally I think the farmers are wise to distract the elephants with cows. Even after the elephant tramples the cow there is lots of meat left to eat, what is left of a poor pineapple.
