Lorne, you seem to be refusing to accept that what was done (and is done) under the pretext of Islam does not mean that it is Islam.

When a Muslim or Muslims across the globe say that it is not, and you say "yeah it is"... then either those Muslims are lying, or that one of the parties (or may be both), have a limited understanding of what Islam truly is. Hence, one should go to the ultimate source (authenticated nevertheless)... what people say or do for whatever reasons (who knows) is not a good basis to make an informed decision.

If you are satisfied in your heart and mind that you have done that, then there is nothing that one can do, and I wish you the best of luck. However, and in all honesty, I don't think that you have... simple, did you read the Quran in it's entirety ? did you research the reasons of revelation of all the verses ? or even the verses that talk about the killing of pagans ? do you understand the difference between the verses some being specific and others being as guidelines ?
