Maurice- Looking thoroughout history, and comparing world powers of different eras, can one find a(ny) country as powerful as the United States AND one who was less willing to abuse that power? Also, given your knowledge of world history, can you think of a(nother) powerful nation that organized and supported more semi-charitable or charitable causes (against natural disasters, etc.) around the world- with both gvt. and private giving?

Note: Please do not compare U.S. to much smaller countries, less powerful countries, for the comparisons would be largely invalid.

I reckon that 50 years (or sooner) from now, when the Chinese will be greatly flexing their muscles on the world stage, the rest of the world will be pining for the good ol' days when they could (verbally) kick the U.S. around (and still watch the U.S. help clean up their problems)...U.S. is obviously far from perfect, but I struggle to historically find a better, truth-seeking (and willing to be self-critical and introspective), more peaceful (but willing to fight for what's right), powerful nation..
