Don there has been an excellent discussion going on over on the AMAT thread centering around the reasoning why most of the high quality semiconductor names have maintained such high valuations and why they will be attractive investments in advance of the impending economic recovery.

During a prolonged economic downturn very few areas of the market remain unaffected. High cash positions, low inventories, previous profitability and the mere fact that many of these companies are now much leaner than they were a year or two ago make quality semiconductors a great way to play an impending recovery.

Unfortunately we all know that and that is why these stocks have not fallen to previous comparative cycle lows. That being said these stocks have not even remotely outperformed numerous industry groups over the past year:
