DAN...THANKS...

It is a pleasure to see you still around Dan. Your knowledge and input is greatly appreciated and Im sure everyone that reads your posts on all threads can benefit from it (not sucking up, I sincerely mean it... you always posted with intelligence and a unique perspective).

That said, I will try to sum up all that I have learned about the basics of hedge funds over a post in the next few days. A few things recently have offered me a great opportunity to learn in-depth the logistics of hedge fund operations.

For now, I am going to ask a general question to the group and see how everyone answers:

My question is: What is everyone's favorite web sites for both fundamental and technical research. Please note when answering for everyone if it is free, or paid or both. Also note in answering I am not sure if the 'powers that be' like when people post other financial sites on these threads so I will only post the middle part of the site, dropping the www and .com, and I suggest everyone else do the same.

For me, I have found that SmartMoney is an absolutely brilliant web site for fundamental research. All of the things that you can get for free from them boggle the mind. For a measley fee you can use some of their more sophisticated screening tools, and I have not come across a screening tool with so many quality fundamental variables on any other site. I highly recommend people check it out for at least part of their longer-term research. Another site that I use extensively for financial statements and other fundamental information is Zacks. Yahoo is OK for some things, but the other 2 have much better organization, especially SM.

Also, I have said this in the past: I use SpeedResearch as my browser. If you have never seen it or tried I also highly recommend you give it a shot. It organizes your portfolios and takes advantage of all the free research tools on the internet. Ron Kucynski (No... Unfortunately I get no kick-backs from Ron! :( ) is the creator and stays on top of updating the links and features of this product. It is brilliant IMO... It's hard to describe so if you have not seen it try it out... it is outstanding for multiple stock research and multiple single window and multiple-multiple window!?!?!!*! browsing (it can parser browser-in-browser windows to give you one window with multiple sites of research for the same stock... (or multiple stocks!)... Try it out...its powerful..

I look forward to hearing everyone else's thoughts on these matters.

Wishing everyone all the best,

-- Gene
