you are partially responsible, as it was your post 3 wks back which kicked the discussion off, when you said that Intel could produce all of the P4's demand in their current fabs at 130 nm, and the new 300 mm fabs would just add to the surplus. And I said to myself. Damm, Elmer just might be right again. So you owe us your guess. What will happen with all of Intel's overproduction? Will Intel come out with an even bigger die to soak up extra silicon? Close the old fabs, or a price war, and when.

I must admit there is more capacity than I can see a need for. For some reason Intel hasn't shared all their plans with me. They seem to think they will use it or they wouldn't be building it. There are still 3 more huge fabs in the works. Ireland, New Mexico and Oregon. 1 more possibly in Israel too that the government will partially subsidize. I can't buy the notion that they are just stupid and building for the hell of it. BWDIK?
