The modern university is very likely a doomed institution. It will become intolerable to spend in excess of $25,000 a year for lecture halls with 500 students; attending recycled lectures that could just as easily have been read or heard on tape; sections led by bored graduate students; professors insulated from accountability by tenure; hefty payrolls padded due to sabbaticals and other time off; virtual serfs from the pools of graduate assistants; and so on.......
