MrB, you did it! Thank you for the column. How about 'Back to the future' for a title? That one's taken?
The chart helped quite a bit. Maybe we should invite all Kook denizens
to feel free to come forth with similar efforts. That might convince
us of the futility of expecting gurus' advice to be consistently
profitable. BTW, Dr. Stephen Leeb, editor of 'Personal Finance' is at it again. Received his mid-year forecast issue (he's trying to get me
to subscribe) and on the cover it says 'The inflation of '97 and the
crash of '98'. Nice attention getter. He's been promising higher inflation for years - some day he'll be right. Then he'll probably say
(like Elaine Gazarelli) 'only my timing was off a little'. But timing
is everything in predicting inflation and market direction.
And as for the crash of '98 - it's at least 6 months away. So if he's
right he'll remind us of it. If not he'll make a new prediction.
