Bull, Since I had an account with them for the past 10 years prior to consolidating at my own firm, I liked the co. However, the key is "big chunk." I would never hold more than the SIPC (or FDIC, if they have access) limits with an online broker. I doubt that they have recourse to the parent in the event of failure. Also, I do not believe a parental failure would hurt their accounts, as they are pretty well segregated, legally. But to go beyond the insurance limits is to put an awful lot of trust in the firm.
