I did not bring up anything with a purely personal cost. They all involve either breaking the peace (vandalism, destruction of property) or using the engines of government.

Nor was my point concerning frivolity merely, but moral grandstanding over trivial things. In fact, I suggested that the paint- thrower might better spend his time in normal recreational activities.

Liberals initiate "Heather", knowing that there will be a negative reaction. If they want to go to the barricades, why not over something better? They put Heather on the agenda, and therefore are responsible for it becoming an issue.

The cost of police was not my only objection to the Skokie matter. Everyone has to perform a kind of triage in the allocation of resources. Choosing to support the Nazis in the Skokie matter was not dictated, but a matter of discretion. In order to prove to the world the purity of their organization (see, we even did this!), they put Holocaust survivors through a terrible experience. You are concerned about torturing minks, I am concerned about torturing old people who have already been through enough.

It didn't seem to me that you were merely suggesting tweaks, but whatever.

Take my comments for what they're worth and do with them as you please.
I thought that is what I was doing......
