John, I agree with Sonny, yields have got to come down. There is NO inflation so to speak. Why they haven't is a mystery to me. When will those major brokerages figure it out? The economy is in a different phase this time through. Here's some of the reasons I believe that this is likely to continue (at least for the next year)
1. The continued and steady rise in productivity, allot of which credit goes to the computer revolution.
2. The Feds hawkish stance.
3. Welfare reforms coupled with military cutbacks in manpower are bringing more and more people into the labor force.
4. People's general apprehension about keeping their jobs.
5. And Congresse's (at least partial) reluctance to spend well beyond it's means.

We will have to see how much longer this near utopian inflation rate can persist. But at least for now, Inflation is dead, and yields must fall.
