Absolute Crazy thought: Compaq buys AMD. WHY: From different post on SI 1. News about a "major announcement" - like to include Tandem? THURSDAY, July 10 10 a.m. - NEW YORK - Compaq Computer Corp. holds press conference to unveil major strategic initiative. CEO Eckhard Pfeiffer and CFO Earl Mason to speak. St. Regis Hotel. 2. ope you all had a good 4th--I see lots of posts regarding the GS dropping coverage thing: nobody's mentioned this idea so how about GS dropping coverage because they've been retained by DEC to see about buying AMD and giving the big guy a real run for his money. 3. Compaq already owns >%2 of AMD through Nextgen merger... This will never happen of course. But Compaq could produce sub $1000 computers with P2 power leaving DELL,Gateway... scrambling. Oh well never hurts to dream.:-)
