Rarebird: Friday I almost gave up on Cube.

I'd have taken a bath but with profits in others the net effect wouldn't have broke the bank.

What I wanted to place the CUBE $ jumped on me between 9:31am and 12:40pm (friday). Thats the only reason I stuck with CUBE friday. I've been with her since early '96 and since entering she dropped like a brick. Via covered calls (profits via expired) I managed to get the effective initial CUBE stock down to upper $30s. Friday I almost took $18 but my other prospect jumped.

Reason for the change of heart: I averaged down when she tanked further following pre-announcement. Could have had $22 as exit but held...why ? Well because I thought June could be design win month for all those XMAS DVD players. I guess I'll hold through July hoping more design wins would come her way. Recall that design win that sent the stock up to $22 ? Recall the last short list and she's still 10mill ? Sooooo, without July announced version design wins I'm out.

PS: If you were a CUBE short, at what price would you think your risk/reward is weak ? For example, as a short/CUBE you watch her tank to $16 3/4 and not cover ? Once I saw a stock TRUV become big short and drop from $9 to $1 1/2, I can't find any TRUV short data but if they covered it didn't appear to drive the stock up (shes now at $2 1/2 ish).
